Krishi Advisories for Punjab Haryana Delhi Farmers Kharif 2025

Introduction

The following krishi advisories are sourced from the National Agromet Advisory Service Bulletin, issued by the Agricultural Meteorology Division, India Meteorological Department, Pune. These guidelines provide region-specific recommendations for farmers in Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi to optimize crop management and protect against pests and weather-related challenges.

Punjab

Western Zone

  • Crop Planting: Initiate planting of kharif onion using bulb sets or seedlings. This is also an ideal time for planting evergreen fruit plants such as citrus, mango, guava, litchi, and loquat.

Western Plain Zone

  • Cauliflower Transplanting: Transplant early varieties of cauliflower suitable for the region.
  • Pest Management in Rice: Monitor rice fields for stem borer attacks. If dead hearts exceed 5%, apply Fame 480 SC (20 ml), Mortar 75 SG (170 g), Marktriazo/Sutathion 40 EC (350 ml), or Chlorpyriphos 20 EC (1 litre) in 100 liters of water per acre. Repeat applications if damage reaches the economic threshold level.

Undulating Plain Zone

  • Vegetable Harvesting: Regularly harvest cucurbits and vegetables like tomato, chilli, brinjal, and okra. Ensure proper drainage in chilli fields by removing stagnant rainwater promptly after rainfall.

Sub Montane Undulating Plain Zone

  • Fruit Planting and Crop Management: Plant evergreen fruit crops such as citrus, mango, litchi, guava, loquat, ber, amla, and papaya. Perform earthing up in sugarcane fields to prevent lodging. Conduct weeding in green gram, maize, and soybean to reduce water and nutrient stress.
  • Pest Control in Orchards: Monitor orchards for mealy bugs. Remove and destroy infested branches and clear weeds around orchards to minimize pest habitats.

Central Plain Zone

  • Fruit Planting and Maintenance: Plant evergreen crops like citrus, guava, mango, litchi, sapota, jamun, bael, and amla. Drain excess rainwater from fruit plants or orchards to prevent waterlogging.
  • Disease Management in Chilli: With favorable conditions for die-back and fruit rot in chilli due to rainfall, spray Folicur (250 ml), Indofil M-45 (750 g), or Blitox (750 g) in 250 liters of water per acre. Repeat spraying every 10-15 days as needed.

Haryana

Western Zone

  • Weeding and Pest Management in Paddy: Perform manual weeding in paddy fields 30-40 days after transplanting. Watch for root weevil in rice due to high moisture. If infestation occurs, apply Karberil 4 G or Sevidal 4 G (10 kg per acre) during clear weather.
  • Cotton Pest Control: Monitor cotton fields for white fly infestations due to high humidity. If the infestation exceeds the economic threshold level, spray Nimbecidine (1 litre) mixed with 200-250 liters of water per acre during clear weather.

Eastern Zone

  • Water Management and Pest Control: Avoid irrigation in cotton and bajra crops based on weather forecasts and ensure proper drainage to remove excess water. Monitor crops for diseases regularly.
  • Cotton Pest Management: For pink caterpillar in cotton, install 10-12 pheromone traps with PG lure per acre. Spray Spinosad 45% SC (0.5-1.0 ml) or neem insecticide 1500 ppm (5 ml per litre of water) alternately in the evening every 10 days.

Delhi

Crop and Pest Management

  • Drainage and Weeding: Avoid spraying crops and ensure proper drainage in vegetable nurseries, pulses, and other crops. Perform weeding and hoeing in standing crops and vegetables to control weeds.
  • Pest Monitoring: Regularly check crops for white flies and sucking pests.
  • Transplanting and Sowing: Transplant brinjal, chilli, and early cauliflower if seedlings are ready. Sow onion directly or transplant in prepared fields with proper drainage. Sow guar, radish, cluster bean, beans, spinach, amaranths, and ladyfinger on ridges for optimal growth.
