The bulletin provides detailed guidance for farmers in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan, based on recent rainfall patterns and weather forecasts. Jammu & Kashmir
Significant rainfall was recorded in Jammu, Kathua, Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi, Samba, and Udhampur districts. With rain and thundershowers expected on 14th, 15th, 17th, and 18th, along with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places during the next 24 hours and thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) over the next five days, farmers should postpone irrigation, intercultural operations, and application of fertilizers and plant protection measures. Adequate drainage in crop fields is essential to prevent waterlogging. Mechanical support should be provided to banana and papaya plantations and staking to young plants and vegetables. Propping in sugarcane is advised to ensure stability.
Rice
In the Sub Tropical Zone, postpone irrigation due to anticipated rainfall. Prevent water stagnation in fields. Postpone chemical plant protection measures until clear weather. In the Valley Temperate Zone, maintain a thin layer of water in rice fields to support growth.
Maize
In the Sub Tropical and Intermediate Zones, ensure proper drainage to avoid water stagnation, as maize is highly sensitive to waterlogging, which can lead to bacterial stalk rot. In the Intermediate Zone, spray Propiconazole at 0.1% on non-rainy days to control leaf blight. In the Valley Temperate Zone, conduct hoeing and weeding to maintain crop health.
Pulses
In the Sub Tropical and Intermediate Zones, avoid water stagnation in kharif pulses. In the Valley Temperate Zone, mulch green gram at the germination stage to suppress weeds and conserve soil moisture. Maintain proper drainage in beans and pulses.
Vegetables
In the Sub Tropical Zone, remove and bury infected brinjal fruits and shoots to prevent disease spread. In the Intermediate Zone, provide mechanical support to young vegetable plants to prevent lodging. In the Valley Temperate Zone, maintain drainage in vegetable fields to ensure healthy growth.
Ladakh
In the Cold Arid Zone, apply light irrigation to wheat and barley to maintain soil moisture. Conduct hoeing in potato fields followed by earthing up to promote tuber development. Apply irrigation to vegetables as needed to support growth.
Wheat and Barley
Light irrigation should be applied to maintain optimal soil moisture levels for healthy crop development.
Potato
Hoeing followed by earthing up is recommended to enhance tuber growth and prevent weed competition.
Vegetables
Irrigation should be applied based on crop requirements to ensure consistent growth and yield.
Himachal Pradesh
Significant rainfall occurred in most districts except Kinnaur and Lahaul & Spiti. Rain and thundershowers are likely over the next 4-5 days, with heavy to very heavy rainfall expected at isolated places during the next 24 hours and on 15th to 17th. Postpone irrigation, intercultural operations, and application of fertilizers and plant protection measures. Ensure adequate drainage in crop fields to avoid waterlogging.
Pea
In the High Hill Temperate Dry Zone, plough fields after harvesting matured pea to reduce weeds for the next crop.
Buckwheat, Oats, and Toria
In the High Hill Temperate Dry Zone, continue land preparation for sowing buckwheat, oats, and toria to ensure timely planting.
Rajmash
In the High Hill Temperate Dry Zone, spray Streptocycline at 1g per 10 liters of water to control bacterial blight, repeating after seven days if necessary.
Tomato, Capsicum, and Brinjal
In the Mid Hills Sub Humid Zone, harvest matured tomato, capsicum, and brinjal fruits immediately to ensure quality. In the Sub Montane and Low Hills Sub Tropical Zone, maintain proper drainage in fields of cucumber, summer squash, bitter gourd, bottle gourd, tomato, and brinjal to prevent waterlogging.
Ginger and Turmeric
In the Mid Hills Sub Humid Zone, ensure drainage channels in ginger and turmeric fields are weed-free to promote healthy growth.
Maize
In the Mid Hills Sub Humid Zone and High Hills Sub Temperate Wet Zone, prevent water stagnation in maize fields to avoid bacterial stalk rot. Maintain proper drainage channels to support crop health.
Finger Millet and Cucurbits
In the High Hills Sub Temperate Wet Zone, maintain proper drainage to prevent waterlogging and support healthy growth.
French Bean
In the High Hills Sub Temperate Wet Zone, harvest French bean pods when tender and green to ensure quality and market value.
Cabbage, Cauliflower, and Broccoli
In the High Hills Sub Temperate Wet Zone, raise nursery beds for cabbage, cauliflower, and broccoli to protect against heavy rain and waterlogging. Cover nurseries with plastic sheets to prevent damage from heavy rainfall.
Uttarakhand
All districts experienced significant rainfall. Rain and thundershowers are expected over the next 4-5 days, with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places on 14th, 16th, 17th, and 18th. Postpone irrigation, intercultural operations, and application of fertilizers and plant protection measures. Ensure adequate drainage in crop fields to prevent waterlogging.
Maize
In the Bhabar and Tarai Zone, postpone weeding due to heavy rainfall forecasts. Maintain proper drainage to avoid waterlogging.
Green Gram and Black Gram
In the Bhabar and Tarai Zone, postpone sowing and ensure drainage in already sown fields. In the Sub Humid Sub Tropic Zone, drain excess water from already sown green gram to prevent crop damage.
Sugarcane, Groundnut, and Sesame
In the Bhabar and Tarai Zone, maintain proper drainage in sugarcane, groundnut, and sesame fields to prevent waterlogging.
Tomato and Brinjal
In the Bhabar and Tarai Zone and Hill Zone, harvest matured tomato and brinjal fruits immediately. In the Hill Zone, support tomato plants to keep them upright and hand-pick infested brinjal fruits to control shoot and fruit borer.
Ginger
In the Hill Zone, ensure clean drainage channels in ginger fields to prevent waterlogging and promote healthy growth.
Barnyard Millet and Finger Millet
In the Sub Humid Sub Tropic Zone, ensure drainage of excess water to prevent crop damage from waterlogging.
Rice
In the Sub Humid Sub Tropic Zone, postpone pesticide and fertilizer applications due to heavy rainfall forecasts to avoid runoff and inefficacy.
Punjab
Significant rainfall was recorded in Pathankot, Rupnagar, and SAA Nagar districts. Rain and thundershowers are likely over the next 4-5 days, with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places during the next 24 hours. Postpone irrigation, intercultural operations, and application of fertilizers and plant protection measures. Ensure adequate drainage in crop fields to prevent waterlogging.
Onion
In the Western Zone, undertake planting of kharif onion using bulb sets or seedlings to establish healthy crops.
Fruit Plants
In the Western Zone and Sub Montane Undulating Plain Zone, plant evergreen fruit plants such as citrus, mango, guava, litchi, loquat, sapota, ber, amla, and papaya. In the Central Plain Zone, plant citrus, guava, mango, litchi, sapota, jamun, bael, and amla. Drain excess rainwater from orchard peripheries to prevent waterlogging.
Rice
In the Western Zone, irrigate rice two days after ponded water infiltrates, ensuring fields do not develop cracks to maintain optimal moisture.
Cotton
In the Western Plain Zone, drain excess water, as cotton is sensitive to waterlogging during early growth. For para wilt, spray cobalt chloride at 10 mg/liter of water at the initial wilting stage. Regularly monitor pest populations.
Cauliflower
In the Western Plain Zone, transplant early cauliflower varieties to establish crops before adverse weather.
Chilli
In the Western Plain Zone and Central Plain Zone, spray Folicur at 250 ml, Indofil M-45 at 750 g, or Blitox at 750 g in 250 liters of water per acre to control dieback and fruit rot, repeating every 10-15 days.
Green Gram, Maize, and Soybean
In the Sub Montane Undulating Plain Zone, conduct weeding to reduce water and nutrient stress and support crop growth.
Haryana
Significant rainfall occurred in Ambala, Chandigarh, Faridabad, Jhajjar, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Panchkula, Panipat, Sonipat, and Yamunanagar districts. Rain and thundershowers are expected over the next 4-5 days, with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places during the next 24 hours and on 15th and 16th. Postpone irrigation, intercultural operations, and application of fertilizers and plant protection measures. Ensure adequate drainage in crop fields to prevent waterlogging.
Paddy
In the Western Zone, conduct manual weeding 30-40 days after transplanting. Monitor for root weevil and apply Karberil 4 G or Sevidal 4 G at 10 kg per acre on clear days if infested.
Cotton
In the Western Zone, monitor for white fly infestation and spray Nimbecidine at 1 liter in 200-250 liters of water per acre if above the economic threshold level. In the Eastern Zone, avoid irrigation, ensure drainage, and monitor for pink caterpillar. Install 10-12 pheromone traps with PG lure per acre and spray Spinosad 45% SC at 0.5-1.0 ml or neem insecticide 1500 ppm at 5 ml per liter of water alternately every 10 days.
Pearl Millet, Moong Bean, and Cluster Bean
In the Western Zone, drain excess water immediately to prevent waterlogging and support crop health.
Paddy (Eastern Zone)
Monitor for dwarfism caused by white-backed aphids. Spray Dinotefuran 20% SG at 80 g in 200 liters of water per acre when 5-10 aphids per plant are observed.
Delhi
Significant rainfall occurred across all districts. Rain and thundershowers are expected over the next 4-5 days, with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places during the next 24 hours and on 15th and 16th. Postpone irrigation, intercultural operations, and application of fertilizers and plant protection measures. Ensure adequate drainage in crop fields to prevent waterlogging.
Sweet Corn, Baby Corn, Carrot, Sarson Saag, Radish, Spinach, and Coriander
Undertake sowing on raised beds to prevent waterlogging and ensure healthy establishment.
Brinjal, Chilli, and Cauliflower
Transplant brinjal, chilli, and early cauliflower seedlings if ready. Monitor for borer insects and use pheromone traps at 3-4 per acre to control infestations.
Onion
Transplant onion seedlings in prepared fields to establish crops before adverse weather.
Uttar Pradesh
Significant rainfall was recorded in all districts of East Uttar Pradesh except Deoria, Farrukhabad, Fatehpur, Kanpur Dehat, Kushinagar, Rai-Barelly, and Shrawasti, and in all districts of West Uttar Pradesh except Agra, Badaun, Bareilly, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Jhansi, Mathura, Meerut, Pilibhit, and Shamli. Rain and thundershowers are expected in West Uttar Pradesh during the next 24 hours, with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places, and in East Uttar Pradesh with heavy rainfall during the next 24 hours. Postpone irrigation, intercultural operations, and application of fertilizers and plant protection measures. Ensure adequate drainage in crop fields to prevent waterlogging.
Vegetables
In the Western Plain Zone, provide drainage for all vegetable crops and scaffold cucurbitaceous vegetables to prevent damage. In the Eastern Plain Zone, continue sowing cucumber, bitter gourd, bottle gourd, ridge gourd, ash gourd, amaranth, and radish. Monitor mites and jassids in okra, chilli, and cucurbitaceous crops.
Paddy
In the Western Plain Zone, spray a 2% NPK mixture (19:19:19) two to three times to mitigate waterlogging effects. For Khaira disease, spray 2.25 kg zinc sulphate and 2.5 kg slaked lime in 800 liters of water. In the Central Zone, apply Bopyridae Sodium 10% SC at 0.20 liter per hectare in 500-600 liters of water 15-20 days after transplanting to control weeds. For Khaira disease, use the same zinc sulphate and lime solution. In the Bundelkhand Zone, apply 30 kg nitrogen per hectare for non-basmati rice and 15 kg for scented varieties 25-30 days after transplanting. For stem borer, apply Carbofuran at 20 kg per hectare or Chlorpyriphos 20 EC at 1.5 liters per hectare in 600 liters of water. In the Eastern Plain Zone, spray 5 kg zinc sulphate and 2.5 kg lime in 800 liters of water for Khaira disease. For sheath blight, apply Carbendazim 50% WP, Carbendazim 2%, or Mancozeb 63% WP in 500-750 liters per hectare.
Maize
In the Western Plain Zone, spray Emamectin Benzoate 5% SG at 200 g per hectare in 500-600 liters of water during clear weather to control stem borer or shoot fly. In the Central Zone, apply urea at 60-70 kg per hectare during tasselling if no rain occurs.
Sesame
In the Western Plain Zone, conduct second weeding 35-40 days after sowing during rain-free periods. In the Central Zone, perform second weeding 35-40 days after sowing if no rain occurs. In the Bundelkhand Zone, spray Neem oil at 5 ml per liter or Imidacloprid 17.8 SL at 0.3 ml per liter for leaf sucker or hopper pests during clear weather.
Groundnut
In the Central Zone, after weeding, add 100 kg gypsum per hectare, followed by light hoeing and covering plants with soil during rain-free periods.
Fruit Crops
In the Bundelkhand Zone, establish new orchards of mango, guava, litchi, aonla, jackfruit, lemon, jamun, ber, banana, and papaya. In the Eastern Plain Zone, plant mango, aonla, ber, and bel in pre-dug and filled pits.
Pigeon Pea and Sorghum
In the Eastern Plain Zone, conduct weeding, thinning, and split nitrogen application. Drain excess water under heavy rainfall. For pigeon pea, install pheromone traps at 5 per hectare and apply Emamectin Benzoate 5% SG at 220 g per hectare if pest levels exceed 2 larvae per meter row.
Brinjal
In the Eastern Plain Zone, spray Chlorantraniliprole at 1.0 ml per liter of water every 10-15 days to control stem and fruit borer.
Banana
In the Eastern Plain Zone, complete planting of tissue-cultured banana variety G9 to establish crops.
Rajasthan
Rain and thundershowers are expected in East Rajasthan from 14th to 18th and in West Rajasthan on 20th, with heavy rainfall at isolated places in East Rajasthan on 14th, 15th, 16th, and 18th, and in West Rajasthan on 16th and 17th. Postpone irrigation, intercultural operations, and application of fertilizers and plant protection measures. Ensure adequate drainage in crop fields to prevent waterlogging.
Soybean
In the Sub Humid Southern Plain and Aravali Hill Zone, spray Nimbidin at 3 ml per liter of water to prevent sucking pest attacks.
Green Gram
In the Sub Humid Southern Plain and Aravali Hill Zone, spray Dimethoate 30 EC at 1 liter per hectare during clear weather for yellow mosaic virus symptoms. In the Arid Western Plain Zone, spray Flubendiamide 20 WG at 250 g or Emamectin Benzoate 5 SG at 90-120 g per hectare for pod borer if pest levels exceed the economic threshold, and Dimethoate 30 E.C. at 1 liter per hectare for yellow mosaic virus.
Chilli, Brinjal, and Cauliflower
In the Sub Humid Southern Plain and Aravali Hill Zone and Southern Humid Plain Zone, transplant chilli, brinjal, and early cauliflower on raised beds with proper drainage. In the Semi-Arid Eastern Plain Zone, destroy affected fruits and branches to control stem and fruit borer in brinjal, chilli, and tomato. In the Southeastern Humid Plain Zone, spray Triazophos 40 EC at 2 ml per liter of water for fruit borer in brinjal.
Vegetables
In the Flood Prone Eastern Plain Zone, sow improved varieties of rainy season vegetables like okra, gourd, pumpkin, bitter gourd, and cucumber.
Millet, Green Gram, Moth, Cluster Bean, and Sesame
In the Transitional Plain Zone of Inland Drainage, conduct weeding and hoeing in crops sown last month. For jassids in early sown cluster bean, spray Dimethoate 30% EC at 250 ml or Thiamethoxam 25 WG at 0.5 ml per liter of water. For leaf yellowing in groundnut, spray 0.1% sulphuric acid or 0.5% ferrous sulphate.
Groundnut
In the Hyper Arid Partially Irrigated Western Plain Zone, apply irrigation to maintain soil moisture for peg penetration.
Pearl Millet, Maize, and Sorghum
In the Semi-Arid Eastern Plain Zone, conduct hoeing and weeding in 4-5-week-old crops. For white grub, apply Imidacloprid 200 SL at 300 ml per hectare mixed with 80-100 kg soil between rows on a rainy day. In the Arid Western Plain Zone, spray Chlorantraniliprole 18.5 EC at 1 g per 3 liters of water for fall army worm in pearl millet during clear weather.
Cauliflower
In the Semi-Arid Eastern Plain Zone, raise nurseries for mid-season cauliflower to prepare for transplanting.
Cotton
In the Irrigated North Western Plain Zone, keep fields weed-free and spray Acemon or Planofix at 2.5 per 100 liters of water to control flower dropping. Apply a 2% potassium nitrate solution at the peak flowering stage. In the Southern Humid Plain Zone, arrange drainage and water harvesting for use during dry spells.
Kinnow
In the Irrigated North Western Plain Zone, plant new kinnow saplings in prepared orchard pits.
