Forecast: Rain to Persist, Alerts Issued
The Meteorological Department predicts that rainfall will continue across Chhattisgarh for the next three days. Several districts are likely to experience moderate rain accompanied by thunder, lightning, and strong winds. Heavy rainfall alerts have been specifically issued for districts such as Raipur, Bilaspur, Kanker, Narayanpur, Kondagaon, Bastar, Dantewada, Sukma, Bijapur, Balrampur, Korea, Surajpur, Surguja, Manendragarh, and Jashpur. Most districts should also anticipate lightning activity along with the rain.
However, there’s a glimmer of change on the horizon. From October 9-10 onwards, the intensity of rainfall and thunderstorm activity is expected to decrease in northern Chhattisgarh.
Meteorological Influences
These weather patterns are primarily influenced by the ongoing withdrawal line of the southwest monsoon, which is affecting the region. Additionally, a cyclonic circulation active over northeastern Bihar and adjoining areas (or northeastern Jharkhand) is contributing to the moisture and instability in the atmosphere.
Safety Advisory
In light of the continuing weather alerts, the department has issued important advisories. Farmers are urged to cover crops stored in the open to prevent damage. Residents are strongly advised to avoid taking shelter under trees or electric poles during lightning, and to take all necessary precautions, especially in open areas, when thunderstorms are active. Staying informed and following local weather updates is crucial for everyone’s safety.
