Jharkhand Weather Update 10 October 2025

Monsoon’s Retreat and the Onset of Dry, Cooler Days

Published: October 10, 2025

As of October 10, 2025, Jharkhand is experiencing a significant transition in its weather, moving from a historically heavy monsoon season towards a drier and cooler autumn. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts a predominantly dry spell for the state, with the southwest monsoon making its final exit.

Bidding Farewell to a Decade’s Heaviest Monsoon

Jharkhand recently endured its heaviest monsoon in a decade, from June to September 2025, which brought widespread devastation. This intense period led to severe floods, numerous landslides, and tragic lightning strikes, claiming over 458 lives across the state. The monsoon’s impact was profound, with thousands of homes damaged and hundreds of thousands displaced, underscoring the severity of the past few months.

Now, however, the southwest monsoon is in its final stages of withdrawal from Jharkhand. Conditions are becoming favorable for its complete retreat from the remaining parts of East Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, and some areas of Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal, and Jharkhand by approximately October 11-12.

Dry Spell Ahead, With a Lingering Hint of Rain

While the IMD largely predicts a dry spell for Jharkhand starting from October 10, 2025, some localized rainfall might still occur. Certain districts, particularly in eastern and southern Jharkhand, including Ranchi, Bokaro, Khunti, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Simdega, and Saraikela-Kharsawan, could experience light to moderate showers on October 10 due to lingering weather systems. However, this is expected to be brief, as a significant break in rainfall is anticipated thereafter, with no major weather alerts issued by the IMD for the upcoming period.

Temperatures are also showing a seasonal shift. Day temperatures are expected to hover around 30 degrees Celsius, while night temperatures will gradually drop to approximately 20 degrees Celsius, bringing a noticeable coolness to the air.

Clear Skies for Festive Celebrations

The improving weather conditions are good news for the state, especially with upcoming festivals. The weather is expected to be clear with a slight chill during celebrations like Diwali and Chhath, offering pleasant conditions for residents. Farmers are also advised to utilize this dry spell for field preparation and harvesting activities as the state transitions into the Rabi cropping season.

As Jharkhand embraces these drier and cooler days, residents and travelers are encouraged to stay updated with local weather advisories to plan accordingly and enjoy the transitional autumn season.

Stay informed and enjoy the pleasant weather!
