Severe Cyclonic Storm “Shakhti” [Pronunciation: Shakhti] over northwest & adjoining westcentral Arabian Sea

The severe cyclonic storm “Shakhti” over northwest & adjoining Westcentral Arabian Sea moved west-southwestwards with a speed of 15 kmph during last 6 hours and lay centered at 1130 hrs IST of today, the 5th October, 2025 over the same region, near latitude 20.8°N and longitude 61.0°E, about 210 km southeast of Ras Al Hadd (Oman), 220 km east of Masirah (Oman), 780 km southwest of Karachi (Pakistan), 850 km west-southwest of Naliya and 850 km west of Dwarka.

It is likely to continue to move west-southwestwards and weaken gradually into a cyclonic storm by morning of 6th October, 2025. Thereafter, it will recurve and move nearly eastwards over westcentral & adjoining northwest Arabian Sea and weaken further into a depression by 7th October forenoon.

Wind warning

  • Gale wind speed reaching 105-115 kmph gusting to 125 kmph is prevailing over northwest & adjoining Westcentral Arabian Sea. It would gradually decrease becoming 80-90 kmph gusting to 100 kmph by 5th midnight over Westcentral & adjoining Northwest Arabian Sea. Winds would further decrease becoming 70-80 kmph gusting to 90 kmph by noon of 6th October.
  • Squally wind speed reaching 55-65 kmph gusting to 75 kmph is likely to prevail over Westcentral & adjoining Northwest Arabian Sea from midnight of 6th October and becoming 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph by noon of 7th October.
  • Squally weather with wind speed reaching 35-55 kmph gusting to 55 kmph is very likely to prevail over Northeast Arabian Sea and along & off Saurashtra & Kutch coasts till 6th October.

  • Sea condition is very likely to be very high to high over Northwest and adjoining Westcentral Arabian Sea till 6th October forenoon. Thereafter, it is likely to become very rough to rough over westcentral and adjoining northwest Arabian Sea till 7th October.
  • Sea condition is very likely to be rough over Northeast Arabian Sea and along & off Saurashtra and Kutch Coasts till 6th October.

Fishermen warnings

Fishermen are advised not to venture into Westcentral & Northwest Arabian Sea till 7th October and adjoining areas of northeast Arabian Sea & along and off Saurashtra & Kutch coasts till 6th October.
