Tips for Kerala Farmers

As a prophylactic measure, spray 1% Bordeaux mixture into the axils of the top leaves of the surrounding palms. As a prophylactic measure against attack of Pollu beetle in black pepper, spray 1% Bordeaux mixture mixed with quinalphos (2ml per litre of Bordeaux mixture). If an attack is seen, spray a solution containing hexaconazole (5ml) + cyhalothrin (3ml) per 5 litres of water.
• In black pepper, as a prophylactic measure, apply 150 grams of Trichoderma-enriched neem cake-cow dung mixture in the basins of the vines and incorporate thoroughly with the soil. If the disease has already appeared, drench the soil in the plant basins with Redomil 0.2% (2g per litre of water). Spray the same on the leaves also.

Tips for Tamil Nadu farmers

Tamil Nadu received 21.5 mm (1% normal) of rainfall from 01 October to 05 October 2025. The extended-range weather forecast (rainfall) for the next two weeks (03-09 October 2025 and 10-16 October 2025) in Tamil Nadu is deficit rainfall for week 1 and normal rainfall for week 2.

• In coconut, an increase in temperature with button shedding is noticed. Root feeding with TNAU coconut tonic @ 200 ml/palm twice a year at a six-month interval increases the number and size of nuts.
• In paddy, since light rainfall is expected over the next five days, irrigation is advisable.
• Farmers are advised to take up sowing only after proper seed treatment and seed hardening.

Tips for Karnataka Farmers

Coastal Karnataka received 34.8 mm (-33% deficit) rainfall, North Interior Karnataka received rainfall of 6.9 mm (-77% large deficit), and South Interior Karnataka received rainfall of 9.2 mm (-71% large deficit) from 01 October to 05 October 2025. The extended range weather forecast (rainfall) provided for the next two weeks (03-09 October 2025 and 10-16 October 2025) is deficit over Coastal Karnataka, North Interior Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka for week 1, and large deficit rainfall over Coastal Karnataka and North Interior Karnataka, and deficit rainfall over South Interior Karnataka for week 2.

South Interior Karnataka

• Continue sowing operation of short-duration pulse crops due to good soil moisture available for sowing operation.
• To control fruit borer in Red gram to spray Indoxacarb 14.5 SC @ 0.5 ml/litre of water.
• To control Tikka diseases in groundnut to spray Carbendazim @ 1 g/litre of water.
• To control of cob borer in maize to spray Malathion 50 EC @ 2 ml/litre of water.
• Right time for thinning and intercultural operation in finger millet crop.
• Undertake intercultural operations to control the weeds and to increase the moisture availability to crops.
• Tomato: Tie the branches, young shoots and stake support to tomato plants to avoid them falling on the ground.
• Feeding cows containing about 17 per cent dietary fibre in the animal feed is also helpful to increase fat percentage in milk. Concentrate mixture should comprise grains (40 per cent), oil cakes (32 per cent), brans (25per cent), mineral mixture (2 per cent) and common salt (1 per cent).

North Interior Karnataka

• In sugarcane, Top dressing of Nitrogenous and Potash fertilisers. To manage the root grub menace application/spreading of 10 kg of Metarhizium anisopliae bio-insecticide mixing in dry organic manure or vermicompost.
• In safflower, before sowing, soaking the seeds for 12 hrs in 2 per cent Calcium Chloride @ 6g/kg of seeds and shade drying will improve germination.
• In pigeon pea, to manage ash weevil, take up spraying of 2 ml Quinalphos dissolved in one litre of water. To manage leaf webber: Spraying of Profenofos @ 1 ml/litre of water.
• In maize, in case of severe infestation of fall army worm (> 20% damaged plants): Spray Spinetoram 11.7 % SC @ 0.5 ml/l or Chlorantraniliprole 18.5% @ 0.3 ml/lit of water or Thiamethoxam 12.6 % + Lambda cyhalothrin 9.5% ZC @ 0.25 ml/l of water.
• In onion, to manage onion bulb rot, take up spraying of carbendazim @ 1 gm/lit of water.
• In groundnut, to manage leaf minor in groundnut, spraying Quinalphos 25 EC @ 2 ml or Dimethoate 30 EC @ 2 ml/lit.

Tips for Andhra Pradesh Farmers

Coastal Andhra received 21.2 mm (-40% deficit) and 14.4 mm (-48% deficit) of rainfall in the Rayalaseema region from 01 October to 05 October 2025, the extended-range weather forecast (rainfall) provided for the next two weeks (03-09 October 2025 and 10-16 October 2025) shows excess rainfall over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and normal rainfall over Rayalaseema for week 1 and shows normal rainfall over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema for week 2.

• In Bengal gram, seed treatment with Trichoderma @ 8g/kg seed or carbendazim @ 2.5 g per kg of seed. Pre-emergence application of pendimethalin @1000 to 1400 ml/ 200 litres of water per acre to suppress weeds up to 20-30 days.
• Spodoptera and Helicoverpa control, to install bird perches (04 nos/acre for collection and destruction of egg, larval populations by nesting birds). • Present weather conditions are favourable for the incidence of leaf folder in paddy. To control, spraying of chlorpyrifos 2 ml/lit or Acephate 75 SP @1.5gm/L or Profenophos 50 EC 2 ml/L of water is recommended. Farmers are advised to keep the paddy field bunds clean, as the weeds present on the bunds act as an alternate host for paddy Stem Borer, BPH and Blast. Farmers are advised to take up top dressing of nitrogen and potassic fertilisers at 40 to 50 days after transplanting.
• Red gram crop is at the vegetative to bud initiation stage. Current weather conditions are congenial for maruka pod borer incidence in red gram. Farmers are advised to spray neem oil @5 ml per litre of water initially, and based on incidence to spray profenophos @2.0 ml or Emamectin benzoate @0.5g or chlorpyriphos @2.5 ml per litre of water.
• In mango, farmers are advised to spray micro nutrient mixtures or formula 4 @ 2.5 to 3 g/litre of water for control of micro nutrient deficiency in newly formed leaves.

Tips for Odisha Farmers

Odisha received rainfall of 68.8 mm (153% large excess) from June 1 to August 31, 2025. The extended range weather forecast (rainfall) provided for the next two weeks (03-09 October 2025 and 10-16 October 2025) over Odisha is large excess rainfall for week 1 and normal rainfall for week 2.

• Keep the animal sheds clean and dry. Provide sufficient food and water to animals.
• If the Poultry bird is 3-4 weeks old, then go for Vaccination against Ranikhet disease.
• Fishermen are advised to avoid venturing into the sea along the Odisha coast till the afternoon of 3rd October.

Tips for Madhya Pradesh Farmers

East Madhya Pradesh received rainfall of 31.0 mm (135% large excess) and West Madhya Pradesh received rainfall of 12.9 mm (36% excess) from 01 October to 05 October 2025. • Suitable time for sowing of radish, spinach, and coriander vegetables with optimum soil moisture for germination. Sowing of the carrot vegetable is done on a raised bed with the application of FYM and phosphorus fertilizer.
• Monitoring of the field for leaf-eating caterpillar, sucking pests in June sown crop. Rogue out mosaic plants from the field. Placing of bird perches in the field. Placing of yellow sticky traps for controlling white flies in soybeans.

Tips for Gujarat Farmers

Gujarat received rainfall of 3.7 mm (-48% deficit) from 01 October to 05 October 2025. • In brinjal, due to continuous humid and cloudy weather conditions, if sucking pests like white fly and jassid are observed in the brinjal crop, then undertake spraying of diafenthiuron 50 WP 4 ml or thiamethoxam 25 WG 4 g in 10 litres of water in clear and calm weather conditions.

Tips for Maharashtra Farmers

Konkan received rainfall of 35.9 mm (-8% normal), 5.8 mm (-75% normal) rainfall over Madhya Maharashtra, 4.7 mm (-78% large deficit) rainfall over Marathwada, and 3.8 mm (-78% large deficit) rainfall over Vidarbha from 01 October to 05 October 2025. Tips for Vidarbha Farmers

Preventive vaccination for Bulkandi disease (Rinderpest is advisable.
• In cotton, in dry weather areas initial incidence of aphids/jassids is observed. Undertake foliar spray of Metarhizium anisopliae (CFU – 2 X 108) @ 50 g OR Verticillium lecanii (CFU – 2 X 108) @ 50 g OR 5% neem extract OR Azadirachtin 0.03% (300 ppm) @ 50 ml per 10 litres of water.

Tips for Marathwada Farmers

• Harvesting of the mature soybean crop should be done as early as possible and stored at safe places. Threshing of harvested soybeans should be done after drying. Precautions should be taken so that water may not stagnate in the soybean crop and drain our excess amount of water from the field.

• Precautions should be taken so that water may not stagnate in the Pomegranate orchard and drain out the excess amount of water from the field. Remove extra tillers. For fruit development, take a spray of 00:00:50 @ 1.5 kg per 100 litres of water in a citrus orchard during clear weather conditions.

Tips for Madhya Maharashtra Farmers

• As there is a possibility of rainfall, harvesting of soybeans when pods turn yellow-brown should be done. Delaying harvest may cause pods to shatter.
• Due to heavy rains and water stagnation, 100 per cent loss of the onion crop is noticed. Early rabi planting or direct seeding is advised.
• Due to heavy rains, water stagnation and high velocity winds, more than 70 per cent of banana-bearing plants collapsed. Under this situation, the lodged ready to market bananas can be sold to chip-making units to recover some loss.
• In banana, for control of sigatoka disease, spray metiram 55% + pyraclostrobin 5% (60% WG) 30 grams per 10 litres of water when there are no rains.
• Safflower: The recommended varieties are P. Bhiwara, P. Gold, and P. Kiran.
• Chickpea: Recommended varieties include Vikrant, Vishwaraj, Vikram, Vishal, and Digvijay.

Tips for Chhattisgarh Farmers

The rainfall received over Chhattisgarh was 45.6 mm (158% large excess) from 01 October to 05 October 2025. • Repair the bunds in the paddy fields to conserve rainwater and maintain standing water of 5±2 cm depth. • Considering the probability of occurrence of light rainfall, it is suggested to continue sowing green gram and black gram seeds in the main field and complete it by mid-September. Collect recommended varieties of black gram like KU 301, Pant U 19, Sonkush (SB 23-5), Manash (SB 32-13), SBC 40, SBC 47, PU-31, etc. and green gram like SGC 16, SGC 20, Pratap, Sonai, K 851, etc.
• Continue nursery sowing of mid-season varieties of Cauliflower and mid–season varieties of Broccoli under shed-nets or poly houses. For sowing, collect recommended varieties of Cauliflower like Improved Japanese, Pusa Synthetic, Pusa Snowball and Main Crop Patna and Broccoli like Green Sprouting Medium, Corsair, Cruiser, Emerald, Corona, etc. Before sowing, treat the seeds with fungicides like Carboxin @ 2g/kg seeds.
• Start sowing of brinjal seeds in the seedbed by selecting the recommended varieties like Pusa Purple Cluster, Borbengena, and BWR-34, Pusa Kranti, Pusa Purple Long (Long type); Pusa Purple Round, Pusa Bhairab, BWR-12 (round type); BB-7, Pant Samrat, (oblong type). Before sowing, treat the seeds with Carboxin @ 2g/kg seeds. Select Pusa Purple Round in areas where the crop is susceptible to shoot borer infestation.
• As sufficient water has already accumulated in the fisheries and there is a possibility of getting rainfall in the coming 5 days, raise nylon nets around the fish ponds to prevent the fish from eloping.

Tips for Jharkhand Farmers

Rainfall of 62.8 mm (209% large excess) was received over Jharkhand from 01 October to 05 October 2025. The extended range weather forecast (rainfall) provided for the next two weeks (03-09 October 2025 and 10-16 October 2025) over Jharkhand is a large excess of rainfall for week 1 and excess rainfall for week 2.

• In rice, keeping in mind the weather forecast for the next five days, keep the bund close in the paddy field so that water can accumulate.

Keep the distance between rows 60 cm and the distance between plants 30 cm; for hybrid varieties, keep the distance 60 X 60 cm.
• Farmers can sow cauliflower or cabbage seeds at this time. Add cow dung manure at the rate of 80 to 100 kg per acre, urea 105 kg, 150 kg phosphorus, 40 kg potash per acre. Improved varieties of cauliflower – Pusa Katki, Pusa Deepali, Pusa Himjyoti, Pant Subhra 4; Improved varieties of cabbage – Golden Acre, Early Drumhead, Pride of India 2, Late Drumhead.
• Those farmers who want to cultivate early Potato, they should arrange for the best quality seeds, fertilisers etc. Choose either Kufri Ashoka or Kufri Pukhraj, the recommended early potato variety. For sowing in one acre, 12 quintal seed (20-30-gram sprouted tuber), 40 kg urea, 70 kg DAP, 80 kg murate of potash and 10 kg sulfur are required.
• Farmers are advised to go for the sowing of indigenous radish in the current weather conditions. Take seed rate as 4 – 5 kilograms per acre, spacing should be 15 – 20 cm row to row and 10 cm plant to plant. Improved varieties are Pusa Deshi, Kasha Hans, Pusa Roshani, and Pusa Himani.

Tips for Uttar Pradesh Farmers

Eastern Uttar Pradesh received rainfall of 40.0 mm (242% large excess) and Western Uttar Pradesh received rainfall of 15.3 mm (142% large excess) from 01 October to 05 October 2025. The extended range weather forecast (rainfall) for the next two weeks (03-09 October 2025 and 10-16 October 2025) is a large excess of rainfall over Eastern Uttar Pradesh and Western Uttar Pradesh during week 1 and normal rainfall over Eastern Uttar Pradesh and a large deficit of rainfall over Western Uttar Pradesh for week 2.

Western Uttar Pradesh

• Under the present weather conditions, farmers are advised to monitor the paddy crop for the infection of bacterial leaf blight. If farmers observe that paddy leaves are yellowing, watersoaked streaks are spreading from leaf tips and margins, becoming larger and sometimes leaves completely become yellow, then they are advised to spray a solution of copper hydroxide 77 WP @ 1.25 kg/ha, mixing with 150 litres of water at 10-12-day intervals.
• In sugarcane, drenching of soil with insecticide for preventing termite attack. Control of Pyrilla insects in autumn-sown canes.
• In pigeon pea/ maize, the Application of insecticide for control of fall army worm. Top dressing of nitrogenous fertilizers in a 40-45-day-old crop. Drainage channels are used to remove excess water from the field.
• Keeping the present weather in view, farmers are advised to monitor their fields regularly. Spray of Imidacloprid 17.8 % SC@ 1.0 ml / 3 lit. of water is recommended against white flies and other sucking pests in all crops and vegetables when the sky remains clear.
• Farmers are advised to sow green gram in vacant fields. Recommended late sown varieties are Pant moong-1, 3, 4, Narendra moong-1, 4, PDM-11, Malveeya jyoti, Samrat, Malveeya janchetna, Malveeya janpriya, Malveeya jagrati, Asha, Meha, MH-2-15, and TM-9937 for the purpose.

Tips for Western Uttar Pradesh farmers 

• As per the extended range weather forecast, large excess rainfall, above normal day and below normal night temperature during 03 to 09 October, farmers are advised to no need of irrigation in the paddy crop due to 45.6 mm rainfall forecast during this week. 1/4 dose of Urea should be top-dressed on late-transplanted rice at the panicle initiation stage.
• Farmers are advised to harvest the mature crop, and threshing should be done in maize.
• In black gram and green gram, harvest the mature crop, and threshing should be done.
