Western Plain Zone

  • Continue transplanting of brinjal, chilli, tomato, and early cauliflower.
  • Continue sowing of radish; use Asian radish varieties like Japanese White, Pusa Chetki, etc. @ 6 to 8 kg of seeds per hectare.
  • In view of rain forecast, postpone sowing of potato & mustard and irrigation operations in groundnut, green gram, rapeseed & sugarcane.
  • Rice crop is in the stage of emergence of ears and flowering/milking, which is sensitive to moisture deficiency; maintain proper moisture as per requirement.
  • Clean the mushroom production room; make compost for button mushroom production.
  • Harvest mature sesame crop and store in a safer place.

Central Zone

  • Continue transplanting of seedlings of brinjal, chilli, tomato, and early cauliflower during fair weather.
  • Use pheromone traps @ 3-4/acre for controlling fruit borer, top borer in vegetables (tomato, chilli, brinjal, cauliflower, and cabbage) and diamond back moth in cauliflower and cabbage.
  • Spray Tebuconazole @ 1ml/litre of water for the first time and second spray after the ear has completely emerged to prevent false smut in paddy.
  • Prepare the field for sowing of improved varieties of mustard/lahi/raya.
  • Undertake planting of early potato.
  • To control top borer in vegetables (chilli, brinjal) and diamond back moth in cauliflower and cabbage, spray Spinosad @ 1.0 ml/4 litres of water.

Bundelkhand Zone

  • Pick the matured pods of green gram and black gram crop as early as possible and keep in a safer place.
  • Start field preparation for sowing rabi crops such as toria and mustard.
  • Start field preparation for early sowing of vegetable pea in the first or second week of October.
  • Take up sowing of new released varieties of Rabi crops like gram, field pea, lentil, mustard, etc. during this month under suitable moisture conditions.
  • Remove and destroy the leaf curl disease affected plants of chilli, tomato, and papaya followed by spraying of Flonicamid @ 0.4g per litre of water at 15 days’ interval during clear weather.

Eastern Plain Zone

  • Continue planting of early varieties of potatoes and sowing of recommended varieties of mustard/rapeseed/toria after the current spell of heavy rainfall.
  • Potato, chilli, tomato, cowpea, and gladiolus can be cultivated as intercrops in the first ten years of the mango orchard for greater profit.
  • To protect the paddy crop from leaf roller, stem borer, green hopper, and hispa insect, spray 150 to 200g of Cartap Hydrochloride (50 SP) dissolved in 200 litres of water per acre during clear weather only.
  • To control false smut in basmati (paddy) crop, spray Blitox 50 @ 500g per acre 2-3 times at 10 days interval during clear weather only.
  • Undertake harvesting of maize crop during fair weather and keep in a safer place.
  • Make proper arrangements to prevent sugarcane from falling.
