Rice
Rice crop is at Vegetative stage to panicle initiation stage. Brown plant hopper sucks plant sap at the hill region. Results in drying of plants and appears in circular patches. To control avoid excess nitrogen fertilizers. Maintain 2-5 cm of water. Spray Neem oil @ 3ml/lt or Buprofezin @1.6ml/l or Dinotefuran@ 0.4g/lt or Ethopenfrox @ 2ml/l.
Maize
Both nymphs & adults of Maize shoot bugs suck the sap from tender portions of plants causing yellowing of foliage, stunted growth and scorched appearance. These bugs causes honey dew which results in sooty mold. It is a vector of stripe disease of sorghum, maize, sugarcane and other millet crops. If predatory population is not found sufficient, sprays with Dimethoate 2 ml/l or Monocrotophos 1.6 ml/l
Sugarcane
Temperatures between 29-35 Deg. Celsius, humidity 80-90 % favours the growth of Whiteflies in sugarcane. Detrashing the puparia bearing leaves and immediately disposing by burning or burying to prevent emergence of adult white flies. To control Spray Thiamethoxan 25 WG @ 125g/ha, or Chlorpyriphos @ 2.5 ml/lt after rains.
Okra/ ladyfinger
Cercospora leaf spot in Bhendi causes, leaf spots cause severe defoliation and are common during humid conditions. To control, Field sanitation to the extent possible. Spray Mancozeb or Zineb 0.2% or Carbendazim 0.1% at fortnightly intervals based on disease incidence and severity.
Tapioca
In Tapioca mosaic virus disease is caused by white flies. Spray Dimethoate @ 2ml/l or Propenofos @ 2ml/l or Triziphos @ 2 ml/l in 15 days interval will control the problem. Growing of 1 row Redgram crop or 2 Rows of Bhajra will reduce the incidence of Whiteflies.
Chilli
Due to these rains water logging conditions in chilli fields may prevail. These conditions favour the incidence of Damping off disease in chilli. To control damping off, remove excess water and drench the root zone with Copper Oxy Chloride @ 3g/l will control damping off.
Tomato
White flies causes leaf curl disease in Tomato. Uproot and destroy the diseased leaf curl plants. Use nitrogen and irrigation judiciously. Remove alternate weed host Abutilon indicum. Use yellow sticky traps at 12/ha to attract and kill insects. Spray Dimethoate 30 % EC @ 1.0 ml/lit or Thiamethoxam 25 % WG @ 4.0 g/10 lit or Oxydemeton –Methyl 25 % EC @ 1.0 ml/ lit.
Banana
In Banana crop, due to high moisture Sigatoka disease may occur. To control farmers need to spray Propiconazole @ 1 ml/lt along with sticky agent. Due to high moisture in soil, rhizome rot may occur, farmers need to spray Bordeaux mixture @ 1g/lt or Copper Oxy Chloride @ 3 g/lt.
Buffalo
During rainy season cattle may affected with Foot & Mouth disease. Isolate the infected cattle and feed them with easily digestible feed and fodder. Wounds should be cleaned with potassium permanganate solution. Apply neem oil on wounds of leg. Take veterinary doctor assistance for further treatment & FMD vaccine.
